For the past six months, our team at Going GreenHouse has been on a mission to give back to our community, one home at a time. It’s been an incredible journey, filled with stories of love, resilience, and compassion. And today, we have the honor of sitting down with Eric and Karin, whose journey embodies the spirit of our mission.
April: Eric, Karin, thank you for joining us. Can you share how your paths first crossed?
Eric: We met at a church in Burbank, California. I was sitting behind Karin during a service, and she caught my attention. After the service, I introduced myself.
Karin: Yes, it was quite serendipitous. We were both part of a singles group at the church, and I took the initiative to invite Eric to join me for a class. That’s where our connection really began.
April: It sounds like fate had a hand in bringing you together. Karin, what drew you to Eric initially?
Karin: One thing that stood out to me was Eric’s involvement in running the Sunday school program. His dedication to the children showed me his caring nature, and I was drawn to that.
April: What do you admire most about each other, and how does it contribute to your relationship?
Karin: Eric’s intelligence and compassion are truly remarkable. He has this unique ability to delve deep into complex topics while still applying his heart to everything he does. It’s something I’ve always admired and cherished in our relationship.
Eric: And Karin’s kindness and positivity are infectious. She always puts others first and has a way of brightening even the darkest days. It’s a quality I deeply admire and appreciate.
April: You two complement each other so well. Can you tell us about some of the activities or hobbies you enjoy doing together?
Eric: We love to travel and explore new places. Last year, we had the opportunity to visit Alaska, which was an incredible experience.
Karin: We both have a passion for reading and I love gardening. I find solace in books and the beauty of nature, and it’s something we both enjoy together.
April: Karin, I understand you have a background in floristry. Can you tell us more about that?
Karin: Yes, I owned a floristry business called God’s Garden Treasures in Tempe. It was a fulfilling venture inspired by my family’s legacy in horticulture and landscape architecture.
Eric: And I’ve always been an avid reader, particularly interested in theology, history, and military studies.
April: Your shared interests make for a rich and dynamic relationship. Can you share a memorable moment from your journey together?
Eric: One of the most memorable moments for us was our trip to Central Asia in the mid-’90s. It was a transformative experience to explore such unique cultures and landscapes together.
Karin: Our honeymoon holds a special place in our hearts. When we celebrated our 10th anniversary, we revisited the same hotel AND same hotel room where we stayed on our honeymoon—it was a thoughtful and romantic gesture by Eric. Caring acts like this are what has contributed to our long and happy marriage! In May, we’ll be celebrating our 31st anniversary!
April: That sounds incredibly romantic. Do you have any special rituals or traditions as a couple?
Karin: We love taking sunset walks together—it’s a simple yet meaningful tradition that allows us to connect and unwind.
Eric: We also enjoy spending holidays with family, creating lasting memories and traditions that we cherish.
April: Finally, how do you think our cleaning service will impact your daily lives?
Eric: Having a clean home allows us to focus on what matters most and enjoy quality time together without the burden of cleaning chores.
Karin: It’s a simple pleasure that brings comfort and hospitality to our home, allowing us to host gatherings with ease.
April: I love that the house cleaning service is a path to creating a warm environment for gatherings. It allows you to focus on your guests instead of your baseboards!
As we come to the end of our interview, we’re reminded of the incredible journey we’ve been on together.
